Another quick still life to keep me motivated while working on other projects. I used a new red for this painting called Azo Coral from M. Graham. It came free with the Titanium White I bought so I gave it a try. Based on the packaging, I thought it was going to be more of an orange, but it appears to be closer to Cadmium Red Light than Cadmium Orange. I’m trying to decide if I should use it in place of Cadmium Red Light when that runs out or not. It’s slightly lighter and slightly more transparent than the Cadmium color. I haven’t used it extensively enough to really know how it will handle but I liked it well enough during this painting.
Anyone use Azo colors instead of Cadmiums? I’d love to hear your comparisons/reasons for using one over the other or even using them side by side.
