I’m having a lot of fun with Inktober so far this year. Above is my first 10 days of the challenge. I’ve forgotten to draw on three separate occasions so far, but I have tried to stay caught up by doing two drawings in a day here and there. Remembering to do it every day and then actually making the time for it is definitely the real challenge.
If you haven’t heard of it yet, Inktober is basically just drawing with ink every day for the month of October. There is an official prompt list and everything if you can’t figure out what to draw, but I’m not following it this year. My supplies consist of India ink, fountain pen aka dip pen, brush, small container of water, and watercolor paper, but you can certainly do this challenge with a ball point pen on lined notebook paper. The idea is to just do it. It can be a bit messy and I’ve had ink splotches all over my hands every day and one incident of spilling my ink water, but I still find this to be a very entertaining challenge.
For the most part, I’ve been drawing my Halloween decorations. I’m really tempted to gather up all the things I drew at the end and take a picture of them. Then you’ll see the silly plastic decor that somehow doesn’t look so silly in the drawings. The white rat for instance, is actually one of those super cheap black plastic rats that you always see in the stores in October and the skull is a glittery black styrofoam thing.
