Revisiting an Old Painting Part 2

Here it is. Is it better or worse? I’m not entirely sure. In many ways I think it is improved. In other ways it’s possibly worse. I’m really proud of myself for taking a risk with this painting though. I’m a novice at palette knife painting. Without really knowing what I was doing I went for it anyway. This isn’t exactly my first attempt at palette knives, but it is definitely the most ambitious.

I almost entirely covered up all of the flowers I so painstakingly painted a couple of years ago. They were ok before but there was something missing. The whole image felt very stiff and boring. There is possibly too much going on now, but it is done. There is no going back.

To be perfectly honest, it didn’t matter if I completely messed up this painting or not. What mattered is that I did something with it. I’ve been staring at it for years, annoyed with it and now it’s complete and out in the world.

Let me know in the comments if you think I ruined it or not and if you’ve taken similar risks with your art.
