Sometimes Island: named such because sometimes it’s an island and sometimes, when the tide is out, it’s not. It’s located on the remote island of Kodiak, Alaska. Several years ago, my husband and I decided to explore it one afternoon when it wasn’t an island. Although, we did have to rush a bit on the way back because it was reverting back to an island and we weren’t all that interested in swimming.
After a day of picking salmon berries and keeping an eye out for bears, I took the reference photo of my dog Shanzi that I’m using for this week’s painting. She was in her prime when we lived in Alaska and would run, swim, and eat salmon berries all day long. She is a good dog.
