I don’t think I’ve announced it here on the blog yet, but this summer I finally got some of my art into a local shop called Moab Made. It’s a shop for local artists to sell and display their work. I feel like it’s a bit less formal than a gallery, but it works basically the same. Anyway, that was my long winded way to say that I finally sold a painting for a decent amount. Selling a painting for more than I thought I could get out of it to a complete stranger is really an amazing feeling. It makes me feel so much validation in being an artist.
On that note, I’ve also been accepted into the local gallery, Gallery Moab. It isn’t official since I haven’t singed paperwork yet, but all of the board members have approved me, so it should happen. I’m incredibly excited to start immersing myself in the local art scene this next year and really get to know a lot of the local artists I’ve been admiring for years.

As far as my daily painting goals this month, I haven’t missed a single day. Some days I’m less productive than others, but I always at least put in the effort and that is my goal. This week I only worked on two paintings. The first one is a 12×12 landscape that I labored over and the second is a 24×48 still life. The still life has been an unexpected joy to work on. I think part of it is that the drawing was already rock solid so I don’t have to think so hard about every little decisions and can just enjoy the act of painting. The landscape, on the other hand is giving me a run for my money. I’m making progress, but slowly. I keep repainting the same areas over and over again because they aren’t just right. I should have the landscape finished by next Monday, and I’m really hoping that I can also get the still life done, but no promises on that one. I’m sure my instagram followers will be happy for fresh content again when it’s finished.
