This challenge went better than I had anticipated. And I finished it. Woo! Compared to the first time I did a 30-day challenge, this time was a cake walk. I’m not totally sure why though. It could be that my subjects were easier, I was more practiced in daily painting, the fact that I didn’t have the flu, or just that I knew I could do it. For all I know it was a combination of many factors.
While I’m really happy with most of the paintings I created this month, I’m particularly happy with the ones above. Some of them were easy paintings that were easy to set up and were painted with ease, and some were a struggle in every way. Regardless, I love how all of them turned out.
As with last time, finding subjects and setting them up in an interesting composition proved to be the most difficult aspect of this challenge. While I didn’t succeed with every painting, I think the vast majority work well. Subject wise, I tried far more fruits and veggies than I ultimately painted and still didn’t get around to painting everything I wanted to paint. I could honestly keep going with this food series for a while before I think I would get bored with it.
As you may have gathered from my other food series, I enjoy painting food. I love that it’s only as challenging as you make it. If you mess it up and don’t draw it perfectly, no one would know. Food is a very forgiving subject. There is always some degree of natural variation in shape, size
As I worked on this challenge, I started thinking that I would like to do more 30-day challenges this year. I have a handful of ideas on what they could be. Some are known challenges such as the Leslie Saeta 30 in 30 challenge or Inktober, but those are only two months. I wanted to do my own
Overall, I’ve gotten pretty good reactions to this challenge. A handful of people on a local facebook art group are even interested in seeing the collection in person. I’m not going to lie. I’m somewhat intimidated by the idea of hosting my own art show, although I think it would be a good experience. As far as sales, I’ve sold 8 paintings from this collection and generated two commissions as a result.
Below are the remaining paintings available for sale. As a
Great job Amber! You are doing so well and I am thrilled for the sale of your work, commissions etc. I was so sorry to read about the loss in your family and am encouraged by your perseverance through it all.🎨
Thank you Yolande. I was determined to finish my challenge and it turned out to be a good distraction which only further motivated me to finish.
Dear Amber, greetings from New Jersey. I just came across your work. I really like it and am inspired to do a challenge – just missed the Sept 2020 Strada Challenge.

Hello Carol. I’m so glad to have inspired you to do a challenge. There are always more challenges. There will be another STRADA challenge in January and next month is inktober. Good luck on your challenge. 🙂
