Here are some more photos of Juneau, Alaska taken by my husband on his recent trip. One good thing about winter in Alaska is that it is easy to get good light for photos.
I believe these photos were taken from a random beach on Douglas Island. But don’t quote me on that since I really don’t know for certain.
When I was first in Kodiak, I thought it was so odd that there was rusted out metal everywhere. It feels all remote until you find a whole car rusted almost beyond recognition or an axle washes up on the beach. It isn’t unique to Alaska by any means. I’ve found a lot of old car parts scattered around the desert around Moab and even some next to a creek in Attica, New York. I think it just felt more out-of-place in Kodiak because it was so remote and otherwise pristine.
I do love the old abandoned buildings. This one is part of the Treadwell Mine Historic Trail. This was once one of the most productive gold mines in America, producing 70 million in gold. Most of the buildings are gone now, but this one and the one below are some of the few left.
Finally, I love the illusion of the last photo. It looks like a long exposure of water, but is just a frozen stream.
Those are simply amazing shots! Love the one with the wheel/axle!
Thanks! I was a little surprised at how well my hubby did with getting some good shots since he isn’t generally the camera person.
