I miss Alaska. It’s been 3 years since I left, but I think about it amost daily. When we arrived at our new home, I enjoyed it for a week before wishing I could go home. To my real home. I know most people think about the snow and the cold when they think about it. It’s true that it’s cold and snowy, but it’s so worth it! I took this picture at the top of one of my favorite hikes. It overlooks Monaska bay in Kodiak. This hike has you scrambling up a steep hill, holding onto roots and panting by the time you reach the top. It’s a rewarding view and worth the effort. Looking down on the bay, you can see the patterns and colors of the sand under the water and in the summer this hilltop is covered in salmon berries and wildflowers. The best part of all is that you have it all to yourself.
I love just love looking at how paintings develop. Yet, I failed on taking progress shots for this painting. At least I remembered to take this one. It shows a substantial amount of progress from it to the final painting.
Here’s one that shows your process. 🙂 That’s such a nice painting!
Thank you!
