Driftwood on a beach in Juneau, Alaska. These are some photos from a recent trip my husband took so I can’t say which beach. I’m super jealous he got to go. Next time I swear I’m going too, which is what I said last time I missed out on a trip. He took my camera with him so he could take some nice photos so I got the “pleasure” of sorting through and editing hundreds of photos.
The hubby described Juneau and beautiful, but inaccessible. The one main road is lined with private property and once you do find an opening into the wilds, it is climbing straight up a steep mountain through thick devil’s club on a trail of your own making, which is probably frowned upon. Boating to islands doesn’t help much because they’re all bought up too. Maybe with more time spent poking about we’d find the sweet spots. But who knows. It’s a hard thing to judge without putting in the time exploring.
On first look, it just isn’t quite the wild place we imagined it to be. I think we were spoiled by Kodiak, Alaska. It was the perfect combination of everything for us so we compare everywhere to there, and nowhere is quite like it. We joke that it spoiled us for the rest of the world. It’s sad that it has been 5 years already since I’ve had the pleasure of being there.
