My heart is broken.
An unthinkable tragedy has rocked my family. My young niece, Zella, passed away suddenly at just 17. She was a force to be reckoned with from day one. Zella brimmed with compassion and love for everyone around her. She was wise beyond her years and was certain of herself in a way you don’t often see. She knew her mind and spoke it often. Her quick whit was always close at hand.
Zella was compassionate about animal rescue and the environment. She worked at the local dog food boutique and I can’t imagine a more perfect job for her.
She joined me and my husband on a trip to upstate New York a couple years ago to visit his extended family. I’m so grateful to have had that time with her. Zella, of course, fit right into the family. Grandma B taught us Rummikub and Mancala, which Zella and I played competitively for days on end. Zella swore one night she was chased down by a raccoon while trying to check in with her parents at the end of the long driveway (the only area with cell service). It’s certainly possible. We were also fortunate enough to go to Niagara Falls, but the photos are decidedly wet.
Ugh. One moment she was here and the next gone. There isn’t any reason in this. I can’t wrap my head around losing her. No one can. It feels so unreal.
One thing is certain: She is missed. She touched the hearts of so many and will never be forgotten. I love you Zella.
I’m very sorry to hear about the passing of your lovely niece. Condolences to you and your family. She was beautiful, you can see the gentle light shining out from her in her photos. Take care.
Thank you 🙏
