I’m in the home stretch! Only 5 paintings left. I have no clue what I’m going to scrounge up for those final paintings though. My studio is littered with a collection of the most random objects from around my house. Most of them don’t work for what I’m after though. If I do this challenge again, I’ll be building a much larger still life box. The one I’ve been using for this challenge is a little 1 foot square box that only smallish items fit in. Anything too tall or too big just doesn’t work. The snorkeling gear barely worked and it was sticking out the sides.
I’m also going to buy a bendy lamp that plugs into the wall. I’ve been using a flashlight, wire, and binder clips. It actually works pretty well, but I’ve gone through a ton of batteries. Also, the flashlight just so happens to always die in the middle of paintings and I don’t notice until it turns off. Once I turn it on again with fresh batteries, I realize I’ve painted the painting too dark and have to scrape paint off.
I probably should have waited to paint the glass fishing bulbs. Since painting them, I’ve had an even harder time finding subjects. I want something colorful, intricate, and with different textures, which is harder to find than you’d think. It has been a lot harder to go back to simpler subjects since those were so much fun to paint. I’m seriously considering painting them all again (arranged differently of course) and that would knock out 3 of the remaining paintings. I can do better on the blue one for sure.
These are so amazing. You are talented!
Thank you! 🙂
Great job on your paintings and I applaud you for painting each day. I only get a couple of afternoons to myself but am really encouraged with what you are able to accomplish. 🎨
Thank you. It has been a lot of hard work. I’m going to be happy when this is over and I can take a little break then paint at my slower pace. I think I might try to make this a yearly event though.
