This week I posted a handful of paintings for sale in a local Facebook sales group as well as to my personal page. I’m proud to announce that I’ve sold a painting. While it isn’t my first sale, it is my first sale to someone other than my mother-in-law. The next big sales milestone will be to sell to someone I don’t know. I’m a little sad that one of my favorite paintings will no longer hang on my wall, but it feels really good that someone loved it enough to spend their hard-earned money on it.
I’ve been looking into saatchiart.com, etsy.com, local events and locations to also offer my work. I’ve also recently come across a widget I can use to sell directly through my website.
I would love to hear from other artists about their experiences selling art. What works for them and what doesn’t. Thank you. I’m looking forward to your responses.
Congratulations Amber ! 👏🏻👏🏻
Thank you!
Congratulations, I would be interested in knowing more about the widget as I could not find one, well I did but got confused, not sure if I found the right thing? I would like to add a page headed for sale?? Not sure if I can on a WP blog?
By the way I can see why this painting sold, it really is captivating 😀
Thank you! I’ve been looking at the wp ecomerce widget. I haven’t figured it all out yet. It looks like it creates a product page that you add to your menu. Is your blog wordpress.com or self hosted?
Mmm I’m not sure, I paid through my own domain name through WP?? I will look up this widget thank you 😀
I think you can pay to upgrade your wp site to include a store, but to use widgets/plugins you have to self host through something like bluehost.com which can be a real pain to get set up.
Congratulations on selling your painting! 🙂 Are you on Instagram? I’ve made many sales from posting there.
I am on instragram, but I never thought of it as a way to make sales. I’ll give it a bit more focus. Thank you!
It’s always a great feeling when someone you don’t know buys one of you’re paintings 🙂
It really is. 🙂
