Despite my desire to actually paint waining, I feel like this week’s paintings are where I started to hit my stride. With moving and preparing my house to sell mostly done at this point, I think the rest of this challenge will be a bit easier. Note to self, don’t start a painting challenge during a move. I tell myself that, but if you think about it, there is always some obstacle to painting. Most of the time it’s simply a mental block, but even physical blocks can be overcome. It’s exactly the saying: If you don’t make time, you won’t have time.
It can be difficult for family to understand why I can’t do something with them instead of paint. Sure I would like to skip painting sometimes, but that is a slippery slope. Skip once, then twice, then you find yourself a month later wondering what happened. In the beginning my family challenged me a lot about why every day and why do I have to finish a painting, but they’re starting to understand that I’m working and to leave me alone for an hour or so. Painting is my job and it deserves to be treated as such, even if the hours are unconventional.
Thank you for reading. I will see you all in next week’s post. As always, follow my daily progress on instagram @amber.honour.
