I’ve been wanting to paint a raw egg for a really long time. I can’t think of a good reason why I haven’t either. Especially now that I’ve discovered how fun they are to paint. The egg is from my chickens so it’s almost half the size of a normal egg and the yolk is very orange. That deep orange color is why I finally painted an egg. Also, I fed the egg to my chickens after I finished painting so they got a little treat out of it too.
Sorry for the ultra gory painting. They’re just fake eyes my husband found at the dollar store and red paint. They look a lot more real in the painting than they did in real life. I was struggling to come up with a good idea for linear and the best I could do was some objects in a line. Since my husband was having a halloween craft day with the kids, I decided to contribute something to it.
This was supposed to be a quick painting, but it took just as long as usual for me to paint it. I seem to have the ability to take about an hour for a small painting like this and this was no exception.
I had so much fun with this painting! Who would have guessed that a bag of water would be so interesting. It took me a while to come up with this solution for the prompt water. I’ve painted water in containers before and it isn’t always super interesting I definitely didn’t want to do anything typical, but water as a still life is challenging.
I found this spoon out in the yard of my last house so I don’t know if it’s actually vintage or not. I thought it had an interesting patina to it though so I kept it around for use as an eventual prop. Honestly, if I had kept everything I collected over the years for props I’d look like a hoarder. Only the most interesting objects survive the years unfortunately.
It’s interesting. To solve the prompts I have to pick something that relates to that word in some way. More often than not, the item I pick can be used to fulfill other prompts. This glass fishing float for example, can cover blue, vintage, texture, smooth, and even water.
Unfortunately, day 24 was a rush job. Sometimes that has to happen in challenges. I tried really hard to get ahead this week, but I’ve been too busy. Oh well. Good news for me is that there are only six more days in this challenge. Bad news is that I’m immediately starting another challenge. It’s like I enjoy being overwhelmed all the time or something. Anyway, see you all next week with the final batch of paintings.
