The layers on this carrot! I had a hard time with this one. I don’t think I’ve been spending enough time painting lately between being sick and busy with other things. Unfortunately, I lose my groove when I don’t paint often enough. I painted this carrot over and over and over.
The completion of this painting marks the end of the carrot trio as well as the half way point in my still life project. Only 15 paintings to go and I have most of them figured out as far as subjects. Painting this series has been more fun than not so far. I’m crossing my fingers it doesn’t turn into a chore at some point.
My biggest question now is what to paint once I finish this series. I know it’s a ways off, but this series is flying by and I’m the planning type. It’s odd that I honestly hadn’t given it much thought until now. It’s been a while since I’ve worked on a landscape, animal portraits are really fun, and I could use more practice at portraits of people. Also, I really do enjoy still lifes. I could expand on that and create more dynamic set ups.
In all honesty, I have the most ideas for animal portraits at the moment. Not to mention the gazillion photos I’ve gathered over the years of wild and tame animals.
I’d love to hear any input or suggestions.
