I know it isn’t a very big reveal this week, but here are the first three paintings of the challenge. Out of the three, I’m happiest with the beets. I put a couple hours into that one and really pushed it to a more polished finish. Or it could just be that I love the bright colors. 😉
Follow me on Instagram or Facebook if you would like to follow along with my daily progress. Every Thursday I will post a blog update with all of the paintings I finished that week.
I’m really excited by how day 1 turned out. I haven’t painted a whole lot in the last few months, but I think I managed a decent painting. I’m still getting my feet wet so I’m excited to see where I’ll be at by the end of this month.
Day 2 is also an ok painting, but I wish I would have spent more time on it. I think it could have been a really exceptional painting if I had just pushed it a little further. With that in mind, I was able to really push myself on day 3. I was at a point where I was considering being done, but took a break and came back to it instead. I ended up spending another hour on it refining details, pushing the darks and lights. I’m really very happy with how it came out.
With day three, I really feel like I’m getting into my groove. The painting came easier and I was a lot more sure about my choices overall. My six year old came in the room after I had finished painting and said: “It doesn’t look real, but it’s ok.” That’s about as much approval as I can expect. Six year olds are hard to please.
