This painting was started way back in November 2017. It sat, mostly finished, for a couple of months while I completed other projects. I couldn’t stand to leave it, so close to being done, so I quickly finished it after the 30 in 30 challenge in January. Finishing it before starting a new project gave me a little more time to decompress after all the stress of that challenge.
I had been trying to paint the green peppers with a modified sap green, but it just wasn’t looking the way I wanted it to. After my recent experiences with Phthalo green, I was able to mix up the super saturated bright green I wanted. It really is one of my new favorite colors. I just adore the super vibrant greens it gives me and it’s simple to tone them down to real life greens when needed too.
I agree, this green looks delicious, Amber! But I like the whole composition. The dark background brings out the the pepper´s colors supernatural.
Thank you! I love how the colors pop against the black.
Wonderful!
