Way back in 2016, my husband and I took a very belated honeymoon to Kauai, Hawaii. To our continuous amusement, there were seriously chickens everywhere and the roosters were absolutely beautiful. I took a bunch of chicken photos, and had to remind myself that I needed to be taking pictures of the landscape and such. This little guy was hanging out on the beach near our campground so of course I had to get his picture.
I feel like my painting has been an unfortunate casualty of house hunting. Since my husband and I decided seriously decided to buy a house roughly a month ago I have been consumed with trying to figure out the best move. For a while, we were going to put a nice manufactured home on a pretty piece of creek front property, but the price of the home wouldn’t stop creeping up. After some number crunching, I figured out that for the same price or less, we would get a larger, more high-end home if we just build. Since when are manufactured home more expensive than traditional homes?
Anyway, after chasing the home building dream for a while, we figured out that we don’t want to be signing up for a loan at our maximum loanable amount because we like to live a little between paying bills. Plus, we need a larger down payment for a construction loan. So the new plan is to go with a cheaper home that allows us to save for a down payment on the future home we’d still like to build. And if we don’t end up building, then whatever, just as long as we aren’t in a crazy amount of debt. I like to sleep at night.
Sorry for the rant, this house this has seriously consumed my mind lately. Although, I do like the super loose style of my latest distracted paintings, so maybe there is some good to come of all of the stress.
